Braving the Storm © 2002 Karen Mathison Schmidt
8 x 10 • watercolor on cold press paper
When Paul and I were at my parents’ house on Saturday for my Dad’s birthday dinner, I realized I had never posted this daffodil painting I had painted as a gift for my Mom several years ago, so here it is. A watercolor circa 2002 or so.

I’ve been having a blast working on my website re-design, and now I’m working on adding more art prints to my eBay store. One of the things on my to-do list was to add an updated photo for my blog and website, since the one I had before was ... *ahem* ... about six years old. So a while back, when we had a couple of t-shirt days here in the midst of winter, my hubby and I went out on the front porch for a little photo session. They’re in black and white, because
1) I love black & white portrait photos;
2) Black & white headshots on websites and blogs are somewhat unusual; and
3) A few years ago I decided to stop coloring my hair, and in black & white photos it’s a bit more difficult to tell that my hair is actually graying quite a bit. :)
After a few more days of working on website and stores, I’ll be back to more painting. Even though Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, I have a feeling that spring is right around the corner for us southerners, so I predict more daffodil paintings coming up soon!
