Love One Another

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
Matthew 5:4

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
I John 4:7

Last night Maggie Stiefvater reminded us on her Greywaren Art blog to pray for and reach out to the families affected by the shootings at Virginia Tech yesterday. Please take some time today to join us in lifting them up, and ask God to show you how you can reach out in love to a friend or neighbor close to you who may be hurting or going through a hard time.

Beautiful palette and so softly done. A very wonderful tribute to such a tragedy.

Yes, you are so right, and this painting is so evocotive and emotional. Thank you.

I got my chance to comfort at the airport Tuesday when a woman with a tiny maltese dog in a sherpa bag, in the line for the Boston flight had just said a tearful goodbye to her sister and she held the puppy out to me saying, "He wants you to hold him for a minute," and proceeded, through tears, to tell me that she had not made it to her mother's bedside before she had died and that the little dog had been her mother's last gift to her.
I didn't remember until later that I had automatically, stroked her hair and sort of pulled it back over her shoulders, telling her that her mother knew she'd been there. She called me an angel (which I'm not) and smiled at me When I watched the plane take off, (with our two grandsons aboard) I hoped that the people who'd been in line and had overheard her, would be extra kind and comforting to her.
